This Is Deployment

All or nothing.

I’m your girl.

No questions asked– that’s me.

So many things to do- so little time.

Notes to self, and to-do lists begin to add up.

But if it’s not written down somewhere,

It’s not gonna happen.

Today I felt overwhelmed, yesterday, and tomorrow.

but you won’t know it.

This is deployment.

One person doing a million things.

It’s 6 pm and I can’t keep my eyes open,

Despite the equivalent of four cups of late afternoon coffee.

It’s what we do.

Keep ourselves preoccupied,

So busy our head’s spinning,

Not a moment to spare, to think.

Things we normally wouldn’t do because we do not know how, or never had to,

we learn.

So mad, we use our frustration–and we just do,

How do you spend your deployment?
