Searching for the magic.
I know it’s here somewhere.
I’ve never found it in stores,
or wrapped in boxes on Christmas morn.
Quickly discarded wrapping paper.
Toys that cost so much, and never last,
leaving us forlorn.
Fleeting moments that pass by too fast.
I always knew it wasn’t there.
But why do we waste our time trying to find it in those places.
It’s more about what we share.
Instead I found it in a Christmas tree that a little boy got to light for all to see.
Frosting cookies together, on your nose, on the floor,
A visit from Grandpa means so much more.
Gingerbread houses, zoo lights, and a sleigh greeting us at our door,
The time, the moments that count, for sure.
A box of cheer to send off to daddy,
Knitting with friends,
It’s all that we need.
Riding a train and meeting Santa inside,
Down water slides, the looks on our faces,
An indoor water park where it snows inside.
Memories made together- that’s where the magic resides.
